Rapunzel and the Rascal Prince... Oh Yes It Is!

Third year starts, the beginnings of being a Costume Supervisor!

So today I have been briefed on what looks like the most exciting production ever! Woods, fairy tales  Pre-Raphaelites, hippies, witches and worms are just a few of the words Will Hargreaves mentioned as the Designer about this brand new Pantomime. The location - The Theatre Royal, Bury, St Edmunds - known for being the only Regency Theatre left standing in Britain today. Timescale - Costumes are due 18th November. Team - Myself, Will Hargreaves, Sarina Gallagher, and six makers - Andrew Layton, Amelia Pratt, Kim Pickering, Louise Tring, Nicole Lupton and Sally Bourner. The project started with a tough task of each maker choosing their designs. These are the six designs that I am going to be producing for the show:

Andrew Layton - Maker
'Cake'

Sally Bourner - Maker
'Gardener'

Nicole Lupton - Maker
'Mushroom'

Louise Tring - Maker
'Sage'

Amelia Pratt - Maker
'Worm'

My next plan for the few days is to write my learning agreement, work plan and to start talking to the makers about their preliminary ideas for the costumes, so I can start creating fabric/sourcing lists.

I am quite nervous yet very excited about this project as it's the first time I have ever Supervised costumes for a show! It will be great experience for me as I will learn so much and gain more confidence within my ability as a Costume practitioner.

I will be using Pinterest throughout this project as not only are Will's Design reference material on it, I can also post imagery, ideas, links photos, research etc onto my own profile.
